Our NEA Big Read Selection The Best We Could Do tells the harrowing story of author Thi Bui’s family escape from Vietnam and assimilation into the United States. Two short documentaries – The Fall of Saigon and the South Vietnamese Exodus to America and The New Generation: Vietnamese-Americans Today both give compelling background and context to the Bui family saga.
